This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how COP or Child Online Protection (We / Us / Company / Portal / App / Application) collects, uses, processes, discloses, and transfers Personal Information (as defined below) of users who access our products and services (“Users”, “Customer”, “You”, “Yours”). COP includes COP Parent, used by parents or legal guardians to manage parental-control settings and view relevant monitoring information, and COP Child, installed on a child’s device to provide the connected parental-control and digital safety features. The context varies in each use case.

This Policy applies to all our products and services, including digital devices, applications, websites, and online services.

2. Respect for Privacy

We respect the privacy of our Users and are committed to protecting it in all respects. We strive to maintain the best data security practices as required under the Applicable Laws. We will never lease, sell, share, or otherwise provide Your data to third parties other than for the limited purposes stated hereinafter.

3. Acceptance of Policy

By using or accessing the app or by creating an account on the app, You (i) agree and acknowledge that you have read and understood the terms of this Policy and (ii) acknowledge and consent to the collection, retention, and use of Your Personal Information as described in this Policy. If You do not agree with this Policy, You can choose not to use the App.

4. Changes to Policy

Please note that the terms of this Policy are subject to changes from time to time. We request that you periodically check this Policy under the ‘Last Updated’ section to be aware of any changes.

5. Definitions

Applicable Laws: Any applicable statute, law, regulation, ordinance, rule, judgment, notification, or other governmental restriction having the force of law.

Data: Includes personal data, non-personal data, and sensitive personal data.

Devices: Child-friendly digital devices or wearables developed by the Company.

Personal Information: Any information related to the User that identifies or represents the Data provided by the User.

Services: Monitoring, filtering, and tracking of children’s activities and location via the Devices and Application.

User: An individual or group of individuals (parents, children, or legal guardians) using the Devices and Application.

6. Personal Information Collection

We may collect Personal Information provided by You while creating Your Account or during your use of the app, including:

Name
E-mail ID
Login credentials
Contact information
Payment information
System and connection information
Session information

7. Information Collected Through Granted Device Permissions

COP Child requests relevant device permissions during onboarding or when a feature requires them. Information associated with these permissions is accessed or collected only after the applicable permission or access has been granted. Some enabled features may subsequently operate in the background, including when COP Child is not actively open.

Depending on the permissions granted and features enabled, this may include:

Device Information: Serial number, battery level, call duration, contacts, etc., where applicable to enabled functionality and authorised access.

Location Information: GPS signals or information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers, where location permission has been granted.

Application usage and other information required to deliver the parental-control features described in Section 7A. Disabling a permission may limit the corresponding feature.

7A. COP Child Device Permissions and Data Access

COP Child requests permissions for specific parental monitoring and digital safety purposes. The permissions available and their operation may vary by device and Android version.

Accessibility Service: Supports parental-control functionality, including enforcing configured app restrictions and screen-time limits. Depending on the enabled functionality, the service may access information about applications displayed on the device and relevant interaction events.

Usage Access: Provides information about applications used, usage duration, frequency and screen-time patterns to support parental monitoring and screen-time management.

Location: Supports device location monitoring, geofencing and location-based alerts. Where background location access is granted, the relevant feature may operate when the app is not actively open. Relevant location updates may be made available to the connected COP Parent application.

Device Administrator: Adds protection against unauthorised removal of COP Child. While Device Administrator access is active, it must be deactivated through device settings before COP Child can be uninstalled. This permission is requested for the disclosed uninstall-protection purpose.

Display Over Other Apps: Allows COP Child to display applicable parental-control restriction screens over other applications.

Battery Optimisation: COP Child may request exemption from battery optimisation to support enabled parental-control functionality in the background.

Web Access: COP Child may process information necessary to apply the enabled parental website-access and filtering restrictions.

Relevant monitoring information may be transmitted to COP systems to make it available to the authorised parent through the connected COP Parent application. Permission access and related data handling are subject to the other provisions of this Policy.

8. Usage of Collected Information

We use Your Personal Information for purposes such as:

Operating and improving the App
Developing new services and products
Communicating with You

The phone numbers and emails we collect, especially the contact details of parents, will be used to send alert notifications if the user has purchased any COP plans. The contact details will also be used to send promotional messages and educational content and enhance the overall user experience. COP ensures that the details collected from the users will only be used internally and will not be shared with any external / third-parties to protect the privacy of the users.

9. Sharing Information

We will not disclose Your Personal Information to any third party except:

As required by law
To respond to claims of rights violations
For internal purposes, including account management and customer support

10. Third-Party Services

We share Your information with third-party service providers like Firebase for uninterrupted and improved services. No ads are served in the COP application. Firebase Analytics is used solely for non-personalized usage tracking.

11. Cookies, Beacons, and Others

Certain functionalities of the Portal use cookies, beacons, and other technologies to enhance User experience. The Portal also uses third-party cookies for payment processing and functionality enhancement.

12. Information Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect Your Personal Information. For secure payments, we use encrypted technologies to protect Your data during Internet transactions.

13. Children’s Privacy

COP is a parental monitoring and digital safety service designed to help parents and legal guardians manage their children’s digital activities, including for children under the age of 13. COP Child operates on a child’s device and is connected to the COP Parent application.

To provide the requested parental-control features, COP may collect and process information relating to the child’s device, application usage, screen-time activity, location and other monitoring information described in this Policy, subject to the applicable permissions and parental authorisation.

This information is used to provide monitoring and safety features configured by the authorised parent or legal guardian. Parents and legal guardians may contact COP to request information regarding their child’s personal data or exercise applicable privacy and data-deletion rights.

14. Deleting Your Account

You may delete Your Account at any time, and we may retain some Personal Information after deletion for legitimate business or legal purposes. You can also request the deletion of your Personal Information by contacting Us.
